Route Information

Welcome Aboard HEAT!

Originally made possible by federal and state grants and the financial support of local university and college partners, HEAT (Higher Education Area Transit) is providing enhanced and expanded transportation services to the entire Greensboro community. The specific schools located along the HEAT routes include: Bennett College; Elon University School of Law; Guilford College; North Carolina A&T State University; and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG)

HEAT operates nine (9) routes as follows:

EAST-WEST HEAT (Weekdays) –

An east- and west-bound route that serves downtown, Elon University School of Law, Greensboro College, North Carolina A&T, UNCG, and Friendly Center. This schedule is for Mondays - Fridays only.

East west service on Saturday and Sunday –

An east- and west-bound route that serves downtown, Elon University School of Law, Greensboro College, North Carolina A&T and Friendly Center. This schedule is for Saturdays and Sundays only.

City HEAT –

A downtown circulation route with service to Bennett College, Elon University School of Law, NC A&T, UNCG and the nightlife, entertainment and restaurants of downtown Greensboro.

UNCG HEAT –

A shuttle service route between the UNCG campus and student housing complexes located west of campus in the general vicinity of Spring Garden Street and Walker Avenue.

Tech HEAT –

A supplemental service for the existing GTA Route 11 that will operate between the Depot and the GTCC-Jamestown campus to provide more frequent and direct service to and from the Jamestown campus.

A&T HEAT –

A shuttle service route between the A&T campus, student housing complexes located in the McConnell Road, Benbow Road and Sullivan Street areas, and the Bessemer Avenue shopping district.

Express HEAT - EAST Route –

Express service serving Four Seasons Town Centre and The Shoppes at Pyramids Village.

Express HEAT - West (Monday - Saturday) –

An express route connecting UNCG with Four Seasons Town Centre and the Wendover Avenue shopping district. This schedule is for Mondays thru Saturdays only.

Express HEAT - West (Sundays Only) –

An express route connecting UNCG with Four Seasons Town Centre and the Wendover Avenue shopping district. (This schedule is for Sundays only.)

HEAT and GTA bus services do not operate on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. HEAT schedules are also affected by college and university calendars. For the 2006/2007 school year, HEAT service will operate beginning on Tuesday, August 8 and end on December 22; spring 2007 semester service will begin on Tuesday, January 2 and end on Saturday, May 12.
